I loved Inspector Gadget when I was a kid and I'm still a fan. I might not watch the cartoon like I used to but it still holds a special place in my heart. My love of the character is the biggest motivator behind doing this costume. I've done 3 versions of Gadget so far and might do another one day. One is just good old Gadget, just the trenchcoat and the hat. The other is Gadget with the Gadget Copter. The most recent version is based on some fantastic fan art I found on Deviant Art of a roughed up and broken Gadget, holding what remains of his left arm in his opposite hand.
